Edgmon, Ball, Agler inducted into SCPGA Hall of Fame
Broken Arrow –The PGA South Central Section celebrated its first ever female Golf Professional of the Year and three local legends were enshrined in the section’s Hall of Fame during its annual awards dinner Sunday, highlighting the three-day section spring meetings and merchandise show at Stoney Creek Resort in Broken Arrow.
Dawn Darter of Sherwood, Arkansas, a PGA member for 35 years and head professional The Greens in North Hills since 2010, was a popular choice as Golf Professional of the Year.
Inducted into the PGA South Central Golf Hall of Fame were Steve Ball of The Ball Golf Center in Oklahoma City, High Edgmon, who was instrumental in growing Oak Tree Country Club when it was one of Landmark’s flagship facilities, and Bill Agler, long-time head pro at Fayetteville Country Club.
Ball, who worked at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond early in his career, was an early adopter and a pioneer in the practice of custom fitting and his Ball Golf Center has done more than 35,000 custom fittings. He is a noted teacher as well and his students include Talor Gooch, currently on the PGA Tour.
Edgmon played a huge role as Oak Tree and Landmark expanded and was president of Oak Tree CC from 1981-95. After Landmark faded in the wake of the Resolution Trust Corp. savings and loan fiasco, he became president and CEO of Western Golf Properties and in 2003 took a position as a managing director for Troon Golf in Scottsdale.
