Class 5A
MUSKOGEE — Collinsville’s Nina Lee came up just short of winning last year’s Class 5A state golf tournament. This year, she’s in the driver’s seat after the first round.
The Collinsville senior, who finished second to Bishop Kelley’s Mika Ramos in 2017, was the lone golfer to shoot under par in the first round Wednesday, carding a 1-under 70. Three strokes behind her is teammate Madison O’Dell, who finished third at last year’s state tournament.
Duncan’s Brooklyn Bostick (74) is in third place, as only nine golfers finished in the 70s.
Duncan, looking for its second consecutive team championship, finished with a 314 and owns a 26-stroke lead over Collinsville (340) heading into the final round on Thursday.
