Golf Oklahoma is proud to announce a partnership with The 73rd Hole, an informative and entertaining Oklahoma-based golf podcast rising quickly up the national charts and one we firmly believe will add a great deal to the knowledge and enjoyment of the game for our readers and all golfers in
Oklahoma.

Colby Powell, Taylor Williams and Sam Humphreys are the hosts, all young, enthusiastic golf nuts with a passion for exploring every aspect of the game. They dissect every tournament and trend from the professional tours, interview golf newsmakers and examine what’s happening in and around the state and they do it twice a week. The podcasts are available on Apple iTunes Podcasts and Spotify Podcasts, just hit the subscribe button. Click on the link above to get started.

Powell and Williams both hail from Chickasha. Powell is a former host on The Franchise sports radio in Oklahoma City while Williams was a two-time 5A state champion and dabbled in professional golf. Humphreys was a member of state champion powerhouse teams at Edmond North and played collegiately at the University of Tulsa and UMKC where he studied journalism and broadcasting. He still plays frequently with the many professionals who call Oak Tree National home and brings a perspective of both a player and a journalist. His father Craig Humphreys is a long-time radio host on The Sports Animal.

The 73rd Hole Podcast joins Golf Oklahoma’s print and digital issues, the website www.golfoklahoma.org,, our weekly newsletters, The Golf Oklahoma Radio Hour on the Tulsa Sports Animal and our social media feeds in providing Oklahomans with the most complete coverage of the game from a local angle enjoyed by golfers in any state.

We will be providing links, guest alerts and highlights of every episode of The 73rd Hole in our weekly newsletters, online and on Facebook and Twitter. We welcome your feedback.

“We’re thrilled to announce this partnership with Golf Oklahoma.,” Powell said. “This really gives us the platform to reach more golf fans than ever before. Colby Powell
Colby grew up playing golf at RiverBend Golf Club in Chickasha, OK. In the fall of 2011, Colby headed to Oklahoma State,
where he played golf for fun and stayed miles away from the guys you see hitting shots on TV now. After graduating with a
degree in Sports Media, Journalism and Broadcasting, Colby headed to Oklahoma City and worked for 107.7 The Franchise until
September of 2019. Still an avid golfer, he tries to play as often as possible, and loves talking about the game on The 73rd Hole!!

Sam Humphreys
Sam Humphreys was a member of four state championship teams at Edmond North and a successful collegiate player for theUniversity of Tulsa and UMKC, In June of 2018 he was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer and had 4 surgeries along with 4 rounds of grueling chemo from August to November. Sam graduated from UMKC with a bachelors in Interpersonal
Communications, and after Covid-19 ruined the rest of his final season, he dipped his toe into professional golf but is now taking
after his father – The Sports Animals’ Craig Humphreys – and pursuing a career in journalism and broadcasting. Sam adds a
player’s perspective to the 73rd Hole Podcast.

Taylor Williams
Taylor, 28, loves everything about golf – playing, equipment, stats, history, architecture, instruction and even the rules. A twotime 5A champion for Chickasha in 2010 and 2011, he went on to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian and is a regular competitor in state and regional events. He has worked in golf shops and as an instructor. When not playing, talking about or
thinking about golf, loves to spend time with his family, running around with his puppy and watching Thunder basketball.
