Tseng leads TU into contention in Rebel Beach Invitational
LAS VEGAS, Nev. –– The Tulsa women’s golf team escaped the snowstorm back home and sits in a third-place tie following the opening round Monday at the Rebel Beach Invitational. Tulsa junior Lorena Tseng’s first round 3-under par score of 69 puts her in a tie for first place individually.
Tulsa carded a first-round score of 295 at the par-72 Spanish Trail Country Club on Monday. Fresno State leads with a 287 score, followed by Gonzaga at 292. Tulsa is in a four-way tie for third place with New Mexico, BYU and Grand Canyon.
Tseng made birdie putts on three straight holes, No. 6 through 8, then again on hole 11 and suffered her lone bogey of the round on the par-4 13th hole. Sophomore Lilly Thomas finished the opening round in 14th place with a 1-over 73, while Haley Greb finished one stroke back with a score of 74 for 19th place.
Taylor Dobson finished with a score of 79 for 57th place and freshman Titita Loudtragulngam is in 67th place ending the first round with a score of 82.
The golfers will finish the second round on Tuesday morning followed by the final 18 holes.
