Griggs makes charge in Big I National Championship, finishes fourth

Carson Griggs of Sand Springs got off to a torrid 7-under start through 11 holes before making four bogeys down the stretch in a fourth-place finish in the Trusted Choice Big I National Championship Thursday at the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C.

Griggs closed momentarily within a few shots of leader Connor Howe of Ogden, Utah, who ended up winning at 7-under while Griggs finished at even par after his final round of 3-under 69.

William McDonald of Oklahoma City tied for ninth after his second consecutive round of even-par 72. Max Roberts of Fitzhugh finished in 40th place.
