Kreikemeier, Jin prevail in Nike Junior Invitational at Jimmie Austin

Maxwell Kreikemeier of Chesterfield, Mo., shot an even-par 72 Thursday to finish at 4-under 140 and edge Karson Grigsby of Abilene, Texas, by a shot to win the Nike Junior Invitational at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman.

The elite field is invited by Nike as its one large junior event every summer. Next year’s tournament will be held at Duke.

Several of the state’s top competitors on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour are invited to compete. Top Oklahomans in the field were Charlie Jackson of Norman, tied for fourth at 143 after rounds of 69-74 with Norman’s Andrew Goodman (71-72). Jack Glenn of Stillwater and James Roller of Jenks tied for ninth at 145.

Joyce Jin of Encinitas, Calif., won the girls title at 5-under 139. Raychel Nelke of Pocola led the state contingent at 148, followed by Jenni Roller of at 149 and Lilly Whitley of Edmond at 150.
