Ground breaking ceremony set for new clubhouse at Lake Hefner GC

There will be a ground breaking ceremony featuring Oklahoma City civic leaders for the new clubhouse at Lake Hefner Golf Club at 10 a.m. on August 19 and the public is invited to attend.

The 18,000-square-foot clubhouse is expected to cost $11.8 million and be built in two phases. Oklahoma City recently completed and opened a new clubhouse at Earlywine Golf Course and previously at Lincoln Park and James E. Stewart courses.

The clubhouse’s first floor will include a golf shop, locker rooms, office space and a grab-and-go food and beverage area so golfers can enjoy lunch, dinner or snacks on the course.

The second story will feature a full-service restaurant and bar with panoramic views over the north course and Lake Hefner.

The clubhouse will be constructed with limestone walls that mirror the riprap and dam along the lake, while oxide metal contrasts against the Oklahoma City sky.

“Oklahoma City has come a long way since Lake Hefner’s current clubhouse was constructed in the mid-1960s,” Oklahoma City Golf Commission Chairman and former Mayor Mick Cornett said. “Since that time, the 36-hole complex has become one of the most popular golf destinations in the region. Though the clubhouse has served us well, it is time we looked forward to a new facility that reflects the modern game and the modern golfer.”

The club’s two golf courses and existing clubhouse will remain open while the new clubhouse is under construction.

The new clubhouse is expected to open in 2026.

The clubhouse is funded by the Better Streets, Safer City 2017 Bond Program.
