The first day of the Sun Bowl Marathon All-America Golf Classic at El Paso Country Club wasn’t particularly inspiring for the six players in the field with strong Oklahoma ties.

While Matthias Schmid of Germany and Bryson Nimmer of Bluffton, S.C. set the pace at 11-under through 36 holes, the best finish for the locals was a tie for ninth at 4-under between University of Oklahoma teammates Blaine Hale (68-70) and Quade Cummins of Weatherford (72-66).

Austin Eckroat of Edmond and Oklahoma State is tied for 15th at 2-under (72-68). Mason Overstreet of Kingfisher and the University of Arkansas is tied for 19th at even-par (73-69). Brad Dalke of OU and Norman is 28th at 10-over (78-74) while Hayden Wood of Edmond and OSU is in the rear at 14-over (84-72).

The event concludes with 18 holes Tuesday. Complete results are here.
