Hartman, Roller reach girls final, Hughes to face Sands for OGA Junior Amateur crown

Jaci Hartman, a Turner sophomore from Burneyville who finished second in the Class 2A state tournament this spring while leading her team to its second consecutive state championship, advanced to the finals of Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Boys and Girls Championship Thursday, edging Beans Factor of Ada one up.
Hartman will meet Jenni Roller of Tulsa in the finals at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Roller needed six birdies, including one on the 18th hole, to edge Brooklyn Benn of Edmond 2 up. Benn was 3-under for the match. Roller is now 19 under for the 74 holes she has played in the tournament and has not made a bogey. She was penalized two shots for hitting off the wrong tee in her second round of stroke play.
A pair of upstarts made the boys final. Rhett Hughes of Edmond knocked off Oklahoma signee Jake Hopper of Norman 2 up in the quarterfinals, then defeated Alex Bloxham of Broken Arrow 2 and 1 in the semifinals. Boxham had earler knocked off No. 1 seed Ryder Cowan of Edmond 2 and 2.
Hughes will face Parker Sands of Edmond in the championship match. Sands knocked out Class 6A state champion Grant Gudgel of Stillwater 5 and 4, then outlasted Sutton McMillian of Choctaw 1 up to reach the finals.
In the boys 14-15 division, Ben Lathrop of Oklahoma City advanced with a 3 and 1 semifinal victory over Preston Albee of Chocaw. He will face Samuel Bonaobra of Broken Arrow, who defeated Chase Blaser of Edmond 3 and 2.
