Herman, Gregston shine in High School Invite at PGA Frisco, Oklahoma places eighth

FRISCO, Texas (July 12, 2023) ー Lisa Herman of Jenks finished third individually and Jaiden Gregston of Duncan, playing as an individual, tied for 10th in the 2023 PGA High School Golf National Invitational presented by Titleist & FootJoy on Wednesday.

Team Oklahoma tied for eighth in the event. Besides Herman, team members from Class 6A state champion Jenks were Sophia Lefler (tied for 56th), Isabella Suttee (T-118),  Sissy Westbrook (T-149) and Bella Negley (T-160).

Texas (RGN) from San Antonio recorded a three-day total of 920 to win the event. Georgia (LMB), the 2021 and 2022 girls team champions, finished second at 955, followed by New Jersey (HYA) in third with 956, Tennessee (ENS) fourth at 962 and Arizona (HLT) at 964 in fifth.

Texas (RGN) led wire-to-wire over the three-day, 54-hole event conducted on the Fields Ranch East and West Courses at PGA Frisco as well as Old American Golf Club. They posted a team score of 22-over-par 310 on Wednesday at Fields Ranch East to clinch the victory.

Athena Yoo from Georgia (LMB) won the individual title with a 6-under 209. Angelina Kim (New Jersey HYA) was second at 5-under and Herman third at 1-under. Herman shot rounds of 70 at Fields Ranch West, 72 at Old American and 72 at Fields Ranch East.

Gregston sandwiched rounds of 75 at Fields Ranch West and 82 at Fields Ranch East with a blazing 67 at Old American, the best score in the field at that course.

Herman will be a sophomore at Jenks, where she won the 6A individual title while leading Jenks to the team title. Gregston has signed with Ball State to play this fall.

The 2023 PGA High School Golf National Invitational is the first amateur championship played at PGA Frisco and the fifth edition of the event since its debut in 2019. The invitation-only field consists of golfers who have won their respective state high school championships as a team or as an individual from small, large, public or private schools. Individual and team champions are crowned following the three-day 54-hole stroke-play event.

The Boys Invitational is scheduled for July 17-19 on the Fields Ranch East and West Courses at PGA Frisco as well as The Tribute Golf Links.
