Sam Humphreys of Edmond was one of four players to advance in a local U.S. Open qualifier Monday at Creekmore Golf Club in Kansas City.

Humphreys shot even-par 72 on a windy afternoon to earn a trip to sectional qualifying. Humphreys played high school golf at Edmond North and began his collegiate career at the University of Tulsa before that school dropped its program. He now competes for the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and played in six events this season.

Complete scores from that qualifier are here.

At least 18 Oklahomans, including Class 6A state champion Austin Eckroat and Oklahoma State’s Nick Heinen, will play in a qualifier Wednesday at Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kan. Pairings and starting times are here.
