Hurricane, Cowgirls, Sooners begin NCAA regional quests
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane is at the Waco Regional at Ridgewood Country Club, the Oklahoma Sooners tee off at the University of Michigan Golf Course and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls take on the Finley Course at The Finley Golf Club, home to the University of North Carolina’s golf teams, as NCAA Regional play begins today.
The three-day, 54-hole tournaments will be contested May 11-13, with 18 holes played each day. At the conclusion of regional play, the top five teams from each of the six sites will advance to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif. Additionally, the top individual not on an advancing team from each regional will earn a spot in the national championship field, bringing the total number of advancing players to 156.
Each of the state schools has reason to believe it will advance.
Tulsa came into the NCAA Waco Regional after winning the American Conference Championship for the second straight season. TU claimed one conference title this season, while earning six top three finishes.
Tulsa had four players, Romaine Masserey, Samantha Olson, Jenni Roller and Allyn Stephens named to the 2026 American Conference All-Conference Team. Head coach Mike Roters being named the league’s Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
Since 1947, Ridgewood Country Club has provided its members and guests with arguably the best golfing experience in Central Texas. The pristine course, designed by native Texan Ralph Plummer, boasts rolling hills, wooded areas with large deciduous trees, and the scenic backdrop of beautiful Lake Waco.
The course will play as a par 70, 6,094 yards over the three rounds of the regional.
Tulsa is one of 12 teams competing at the NCAA Waco Regional. The other schools participating are No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 8 Oregon, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 21 SMU, Baylor, LSU, TCU, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Tarleton State and Prairie View A&M.
Competing for Tulsa in the event are Samantha Olson, Jenni Roller, Allyn Stephens, Zoe Shamy, Romaine Masserey and Jeanne Pagnier.
No. 23 Oklahoma is looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the second straight season and the 11th time in program history.
OU enters regional action as the No. 4 seed in the 12-team field, marking the program’s highest regional seed since earning a No. 3 seed at the 2014 NCAA West Regional. Led by head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, the Sooners are making their third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, 12th under Drouin-Luttrell and 22nd in program history.
Oklahoma enters postseason play following one of its strongest seasons under Drouin-Luttrell. The Sooners recorded multiple top-five finishes during the 2025-26 campaign, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational and a tie for second at the SEC Championship — the program’s best conference stroke play finish in more than a decade.
“We’ve put ourselves in a great position heading into postseason play,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “This team has shown resilience and consistency throughout the year, and we’re excited for the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country. Our focus is on playing our game and earning our spot at NCAAs.”
The Sooners are led by All-SEC second-team selection Savannah Barber, who captured individual medalist honors at the Dale McNamara Invitational earlier this season. Gracie Mayo, Reagan Chaney, Audrey Rischer and Satonkan (Earn) Thiengsri round out Oklahoma’s lineup for regional play, while Meg Tilma will serve as the team’s substitute.
Top-seeded USC headlines the Ann Arbor field alongside No. 2 seed Duke and No. 3 seed UCF. Oklahoma is one of six top-50 teams competing at the regional.
Oklahoma State is looking to clinch its sixth-straight trip to the NCAA Championship.
The Finley Golf Club, home to the University of North Carolina’s golf teams, hosts the event. Featuring a par-70, 6,177-yard course, the club earned Golf Inc.‘s “Best Renovation” award and Golf Digest‘s “Best Transformation” distinction in 2024 after a $13.5 million remodeling the year prior.
Oklahoma State enters as the tournament’s No. 4 seed. Last time out, the Cowgirls tied for fourth place at the Big 12 Championship, with Ellie Bushnell, Marta Silchenko and Summer Lee each earning All-Tournament Team honors. OSU enters postseason play with a 104-39-1 (.726) overall record, three tournament wins, five top-3 finishes and eight top-5 placements through 11 events.

In 2025, Oklahoma State placed third at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional to secure its spot in the national championship for the fifth year in a row.
Marta Silchenko fills OSU’s No. 1 spot for the sixth consecutive event. Silchenko was one of three Cowgirls to earn a top-10 finish at last year’s regional, tying for eighth at even-par. A 2026 First Team All-Big 12 selection, Silchenko has finished top-10 in each of her last five tournaments.
Yu-Chu Chen will make her postseason debut in OSU’s No. 2 spot. The true freshman has posted a 73.71 (+2.2) stroke average this season, third-best on the team.
Summer Lee is the Cowgirls’ No. 3 golfer. The sophomore from Plano, Texas, tied for 12th last time out at the Big 12 Championship to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
Ellie Bushnell, who tied for sixth at last year’s regional, will play as OSU’s No. 4 golfer. Bushnell earned Second Team All-Big 12 recognition last week and was the Cowgirls’ highest finisher at the Big 12 Championship (T-5).
