Huskies in position to roll to 19th state championship, Lathrop dominant in 4A

Edmond North took firm control of the Class 6A State Championship team race Monday at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, shooting 1-over-par through 36 holes to open a 20-shot lead over Edmond Santa Fe. The Huskies are 18 holes away today from their  their 19th state title.
The individual race is much different, as Grady Thompson of Edmond Santa Fe shot rounds of 67-69 to reach 8-under and leads Broken Arrow sophomore Porter Hart (70-68) by two shots. Reed Higgins of Edmond North is at 4-under, Austen Mueller of Piedmont at 3-under and Chase Blaser of Edmond North and Nathan Brown of Union are at 1-under.
Class 5A at Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island
Midwest City’s Carl Albert holds at 13-shot lead over Duncan in the team race as Kathan Pierucci spurred the Titans with rounds of 71-66. His 7-under total is six shots ahead of teammate Christopher Crawford who is 1-under, while defending champion Harrison Shaw of Booker T. Washington and Rhett Ballou of Elgin are even par. Carl Albert is seeking the second state championship in school history.
Class 4A at Winter Creek in Blanchard
Defending champion Ben Lathrop has positioned himself well to repeat and has Heritage Hall nine shots ahead in the team race as well. The Oklahoma State signee is 8-under-par after rounds of 70-66 and holds a 4-shot lead over Bryce Freeman of Tuttle (68-72).
At 4-over, Heritage Hall leads Oklahoma Christian School by nine and Cascia Hall by 12 going into the final round.
Class 3A at The Coves in Afton
Chisholm lead Comanche by 15 shots following 36 holes at The Coves. Four golfers are tied for the individual lead at 2-over. They are Bryce Haddock of Sequoyah Tahequah, Ethan Evans of Casady, Ty James of Atoka and Cale Zachary of Oklahoma Christian Academy.
Class 2A at KickingBird Golf Course in Edmond
Okarche enjoys a 24-shot lead over Velma-Alma in Class 2A. Luke Watkins of Crescent is three shots clear of Rocky Willis of Sayre and Kaleb McAlester of Wilburton for the individual crown.
