McAllister moves on in PGA Junior; Dalke leads Oklahoma contingent in Western Amateur
Logan McAllister of Oklahoma City shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 26th at 1-under after 36 holes of the 72-hole Boys Junior PGA Championship at The Country Club of St. Albans, Mo.
Akshay Bhatia of Wake Forest leads the event at 14 under. Two other Oklahomans in the field did not make the cut. James Roller of Jenks, playing in Bhatia’s group with a horde of Division I coaches watching, shot rounds of 76-73 to finish at 5 over and miss the cut by a shot. Lane Wallace rebounded from an opening 80 with a 1-under 71, but finished at 7 over.
A host of Oklahomans are also playing this week in the Western Amateur at Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. Brad Dalke of Norman shot 4-under and tied for sixth late, just one shot behind the leaders. Others in the field include Mason Overstreet of Kingfisher tied for 21st at 2-under, as is Dalke’s OU teammate Blaine Hale.
Brendon Jelley of Tulsa is tied for 32nd at 1-under, as is his Oklahoma State teammate Kristoffer Ventura. OU’s Grant Hirschman shot even-par 71. Austin Eckroat of Edmond shot 1-over 72 as did Hayden Wood of Edmond, they are tied for 66th. Click here for complete scoring. The top 64 will advance into match play after the second round of stroke play Wednesday.
Natalie Gough of Bixby is tied for 31st through three rounds of the Optimist International Junior Championships at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Gardens, Fla. Here is a link to scoring.
