Unable to take advantage of the par-5 18th hole, Northeastern State settled for a second-place finish in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championship Wednesday, two shots behind Missouri Southern State and tied with Washburn at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar., Mo.

Two NSU golfers suffered double bogeys on 18 and while the final two made birdies, the RiverHawks narrowly missed recording their first MIAA title, losing a slim lead they held most of the afternoon in the closing holes.

Still it was a strong team effort. Carlos Gomez and Gabe Repogle recorded top-five finishes while Brett Wilcoxen tied for ninth and Christian Yanovitch tied for 14th. Ryan Morant tied for 24th.

Repogle shot a final-round 74 to tie for third. Gomez closed with an even-par 72 to finish at 6-over and tied for fifth. Wilcoxen and Morant shot 75 and Yanovitch shot 76.

Central Oklahoma placed fifth at 898 and Rogers State University was sixth at 904.

For UCO, Ross Taylor shot a final round 74 to finish tied for sixth at 221. Kyle Hickey closed with a 75 and finished tied for 17th at 226. Bennett Baldwin also shot 75 and finished tied for 20th at 227. Even Griffith was the other counting score with 78 and tied for 27th at 230.

For Rogers State, Daniel Robles Delval closed with a 2-under 70 and finished in third place at 3-over 219. Ty Nicar shot 75, Tyler Collier 79 and Elliott Han Monteremal 81 in the final round.
