NSU’s Hang wins regional, will compete in D-II Championship

LARCHWOOD, Iowa – Northeastern State, Rogers State and Central Oklahoma wrapped up their 2022-23 seasons at the NCAA Division II Central Regional Wednesday. The schools finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively and only the top three teams and two individuals move on to the NCAA Division II National Championship.

One of those individuals, however, is NSU’s Yasmin Hang, who rounds of 74-69-69 to finish at 4-under and win the individual race. She won by a shot over Henderson State’s Jinna Boonbumroongsuk.

NSU also got a top 25 finish from Nina Lee who tied for 17th.

Rogers State was led by Lydia Sitorus who tied for 11th.

UCO posted a 54-hole score of 930 (306-312-312) after three rounds of play at Grand Falls Resort.

“We didn’t play our best this week, but more importantly, I’m proud of the team and what they were able to accomplish this season,” UCO head women’s golf coach Michael Bond. “They kept fighting and gave their best efforts. I’m proud of them, and I’m especially proud of the seniors for what they gave to this program.”

Mike Ramos finished in 26th Madison O’Dell and Arin Zachary played their final tournaments for Central Oklahoma this week. O’Dell posted a 239 (80-79-80) and finished 44th in the region. Zachary shot a 243 (77-83-83) and finished 47th. Emma Shelley also competed and finished tied for 44th alongside O’Dell. She improved her score every day, shooting 84-78-77 this week.
