OCU grabs 14-shot lead in Claud Jacobs Invite, Allen, MIkish shine
VICTORIA, Texas – The Oklahoma City University women’s golf team forged a 14-stroke lead after round one in the Claud Jacobs Invitational at the Club at Colony Creek.
Emma Allen, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., shot an even-par 72 with three birdies while playing unattached to lead all scorers. The Stars, ranked second in the NAIA, finished with a 313.
Tyler (Texas) sat in second place with a 327 total.
Anna Mikish stood in a tie for second place with a first-round score of 74. Mikish, a senior out of Choctaw, Okla., shot 3-under on par-5s on the day.
Raegan Barnes, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., shot a 77 to be tied for sixth place individually. She led the field with 13 pars on the day.
Kailey Campbell and Melissa Eldredge both tied for 10th place with a first-round score of 80. Campbell, a senior out of Oktaha, Okla., sank five birdies on the day, while Eldredge, a freshman from Eufaula, Okla., played unattached and hit two birdies and nine pars.
Other contributors for the Stars were Savannah Moody (82), Regan McQuaid (82) and Katie Lee-Wilson (84 playing unattached).
Round two of the Claud Jacobs Invitational will take place at 8 a.m. Monday at the Club at Colony Creek in Victoria, Texas.
