CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Elia Folch of Oklahoma City University captured the individual championship by one stroke in the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Classic on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Country Club.

Folch, a senior from Barcelona, Spain, won for the second consecutive week after taking the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate on Feb. 16-17. Folch owns three victories in her two-year OCU career.

The Stars, ranked third in NAIA women’s golf, finished in fourth place, ahead of 10 NCAA Division I teams. Defending national champion OCU posted a 301-305-311–917 on the par-72, 6,108-yard course.

Folch had the winning score of 70-73-76–219, nailing two more birdies Tuesday to finish the event with eight. Folch made par on 36 of the 54 holes. Sarah Brown of Central Arkansas and Alisa White of Sam Houston State tied for second.

"A very impressive win for Elia," OCU coach Marty McCauley said. "This tournament has one of the best fields we play in each season, so her win was certainly a special one. The team performance was very impressive, and I could not be prouder of this team."

OCU’s Kailey Campbell and Caroline Goodin ended knotted for 23rd. Campbell, a freshman from Oktaha, Okla., carded a 74-78-78–230, while Goodin, a freshman from Oklahoma City, registered a 77-76-77–230.
