OGA, WOGA State Amateur Championships begin today in Edmond

Austin Eckroat, the 2018 runnerup to OSU teammate Hayden Wood, is the top seed as the 2019 Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship begins this morning at Oak Tree National in Edmond.

Eckroat was facing Mike Biata of Owasso and Oral Roberts University in the morning match. No. 2 seed Andrew Goodman of Norman was taking on Will Sides of Tulsa.

Golf Oklahoma will have updates each day and full coverage and photos of the semifinals and finals Wednesday.

The Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association is hosting its State Amateur Championship across the street at Oak Tree Country Club. Qualifying rounds are today, match play begins Tuesday and championship matches in all flights are Thursday. Defending champion Kaitlin Milligan of Norman is not in the field, but OU teammate and 2018 runnerup Sydney Youngblood of Durant is, as well as ShaeBug Scarberry of Purcell, Kate Goodwin of Tulsa and many other talented collegiate players.
