Oklahoma City rolls to 25-shot win at Eagle Classic at Hillcrest CC

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University polished off a 25-stroke victory in the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagle Classic on Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club.

The Stars’ Santiago Chamorro, a freshman from Bogota, Colombia, collected his first career collegiate win. Oklahoma City, ranked sixth in NAIA men’s golf, grabbed its third victory of the season.

OCU owns three wins and two second-place finishes in five events in 2019-20. The Stars amassed a 290-289–579 on the par-72, 6,760-yard course.

Chamorro, David Meyers and Carson Seals from Oklahoma City all finished among the tournament’s top-five individuals. Chamorro produced the top score of 71-66–137. Chamorro topped the field with 10 birdies and in scoring on par-4 holes.

Meyers, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, posted a 67-74–141. Meyers nailed eight birdies en route finishing second for the second time this season. Seals, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., supplied OCU with a 75-72–147. Seals knocked in seven birdies and notched his second top-five finish of 2019-20.

The Stars’ Dylan Mullaney, a sophomore from Lapeer, Mich., finished among the tournament’s top 20 with a 78-77–155. Mullaney buried five birdies. Peri’Don Castille, a senior from Dallas, carded a 77-80–157 with four birdies.

OCU’s Quinton Tews, a senior from Edmond, Okla., had an 81-82–163 playing as an individual.

The Stars compete next in the Rogers State Hillcat Classic at Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso, Okla.
