UCO men rally to finish fourth in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 10) – Jacob Lackey and Kylian Cavdar sparked Central Oklahoma on the final day of the Warrior Vegas Invitational Tuesday as the Bronchos rallied for a fourth-place finish.
Lackey fired a one-under-par 71 and Cavdar an even-par 72 for UCO, which trimmed 19 shots off its first-round score in closing with a 291. The Bronchos finished two trips around the 7,152-yard, par-72 Stallion Mountain Golf Club with a 601 total.
Host Winona State won the 12-team tournament at 579, followed by Indianapolis (581), Sioux Falls (596), UCO and Missouri Western (602).
Evan Griffith and Yannic Oppenheimer both shot final-round 74s, while Joe Lemieux carded a 76.
Lackey double bogeyed his first hole of the day, but made two birdies in the next eight holes to make the turn at even-par. He birdied the par-3 11th and par-4 15th on the back nine against just one bogey to come back with a one-under 35 in shooting 71 and tied for 16th with a 151 total.
Cavdar was a stroke ahead at 150 in tying for 13th in the individual race. The junior was three-over after 11 holes in the final round before making birdies on the par-5 13th, par-4 16th and par-5 18th in rallying for a back-nine 34 and his closing 72.
UCO, which has six top-five finishes in seven tournaments this year, return home to host the Broncho Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond.
