Oklahomans in contention in Bass Pro Shops AJGA event in Branson

Oklahoma players occupy nearly half of the top 10 spots at the halfway point of the Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship on the American Junior Golf Association circuit. The event is being held at Buffalo Ridge, part of the Big Cedar Golf destination near Branson, Mo.

Matthew Smith of Oklahoma City, Andrew Goodman of Norman and Austin Dolan or Arcadia were all tied for sixth at 3-under early in the third round Thursday. Live scoring is here. William Sides of Oklahoma City was tied for ninth at 2-under and Drew Mabrey of Tulsa tied for 12th at 2-under.

In the girls division, Raychel Nelke of Pocola was in 10th at 8-over.

Lake of the Ozarks

The AJGA comes to Tulsa next week with the Gateway First Bank Tulsa Junior hosted by Bo Van Pelt. The tournament is organized by Maggie Roller and will be played at Cedar Ridge Country Club Tuesday through Thursday. Due to AJGA rules during the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will be limited to one parent per competitor.
