Petersen, Cummins, Eckroat advance at Western Amateur Championship

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen of Oklahoma State, the current Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play champion, shot a second-round 66 Wednesday in the Western Amateur Championship at Crooked Stick to safely advance to a second 36 holes of stroke play today.

The field of 156 invited players was cut to the low 44 scores and ties after Wednesday. The remaining players will play 36 holes of individual stroke play on Thursday to determine the low 16 finishers. The “Sweet Sixteen” will compete in Match Play on Friday and Saturday to decide the champion.

Quade Cummins of the University of Oklahoma shot a second-round 67 to make the cut in a tie for 15th at 3-under. Austin Eckroat of Edmond and OSU and Brian Stark of OSU also made the cut. Live scoring is here. 

Patrick Welch, Riley Casey, Logan McAllister and Jonathan Brightwell of OU missed the cut, as did Aman Gupta of OSU.
