ORU’s Burrows places second in Border Olympics, women 12th at BYU

LAREDO, Texas. – An even-par 72 in the final round moved senior Cody Burrows up to second overall to highlight action for the Oral Roberts men’s golf team Tuesday at the Border Olympics. ORU finished the tournament at 867 (283-288-296) and in ninth place, while Arkansas State increased its lead and won by 15 shots over the rest of the field at 835 (275-270-290).

Burrows finished in the top five for the fifth time this season and was the runner-up in his third tournament of the year.

As a team, ORU’s 867 matched its lowest total of the year, and the best 54-hole score relative to par at three over. Burrows’ runner-up finish was aided by a second-round 66, which matched his career low.

ST. GEORGE, Utah – With a final round 302, the Oral Roberts women’s golf team finished in 12th place at the BYU at Entrada Classic, firing a 919 (301-316-302). No. 12 Kent State took a four shot win as the only team under par at 861 (292-285-284).

With a final round 71, Beatriz Garcia made the biggest individual jump for the Golden Eagles, moving up 12 spots. With the jump, Garcia has now finished inside the top 50 in all seven tournaments this year. The Golden Eagles combined for 12 birdies in the final round, six of which came from Garcia.
