ORU’s Hoff caps off amateur career with POY award, looks ahead to Compliance Solutions Championship
It has been and will continue to be a spring of wonders for Oral Roberts graduate student Brandon Hoff.
On Sunday he shot a round of 2-under 70 to cap off a second-place finish in the inaugural National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Ariz. He finished at 6-under 210 in the tournament designed for the best teams in the country that were not invited to regional play.
Two days later he was appearing at a press conference in Norman for the Compliance Solutions Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. Hoff earned an exemption into that event by winning The Clerico in late October at Oaks Country Club in Tulsa.
The spot in the June 19-25, 2023 Korn Ferry Tour event at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course was gifted by Compliance Solutions CEO Mark Lammert, who also is an ORU graduate.
The week was capped off Thursday with the announcement that Hoff had won the Summit League Player of the Year award. Hoff led all Summit League golfers with a 71.8 stroke and won three individual titles.
The Austin, Texas native won or shared medalist honors at the Clerico, the Bear Crawl and the Missouri State Intercollegiate.
Hoff, who spent four years playing for Mike McGraw at Baylor before transferring to ORU his senior season, will turn professional just in time to compete in the Compliance Solutions Championship.
Hoff turned professional the day before the press conference and is excited for the next phase in his career.
“I was blessed to play four years at Baylor for a fantastic coach in Mike McGraw, then I’ve grown and become a better player here in my one year at Oral Roberts,” Hoff said. “It’s really kind of cool to see how God’s plan works. I’m playing some really good golf right now and trending in the right direction. I’m very excited for the opportunity in this event.”
