OSU, OU, Tulsa to scatter for NCAA Regionals
Tulsa is heading southwest to Texas, Oklahoma northeast to Michigan and Oklahoma State east to North Carolina as the three women’s golf programs learned their regional destinations Wednesday.
Tulsa will be looking for a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Championship when it particpates in the Waco Regional May 11-13 at Ridgewood Country Club. It will be Tulsa’s 22nd regional appearance since the regional format began in 1993 and the fifth time in the last six years.
A total of 72 teams will compete at six regional sites, competing to advance to the NCAA Finals, May 22-27, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
The Waco Regional also includes Texas A&M (No. 4), Oregon (No. 8), Tennessee (No. 16), SMU (No. 21), Baylor, LSU, TCU, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Tarleton State and Prairie View A&M.
Thirty teams will advance to the championship in Carlsbad — five from each of the six regional sites. A total of 156 players will advance to the championship, with the top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional.
The Golden Hurricane came into the NCAA Norman Regional after winning the American Conference Championship by four strokes. This was the second straight season that Tulsa has won the American Conference Championship and the first team they have repeated as champions in a conference tournament since 2004 and 2005. The Golden Hurricane played three golfers in the top 10 at the American Championship, including having two I the top five.
“We’re rounding into form at the right time but that needs to continue,” said TU women’s coach Mike Roters. “We still have yet to put it all together but we’re getting better at the right time.”
For the 13th time under head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell and the 22nd time in program history, Oklahoma women’s golf is heading to the postseason, earning the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
The selection marks No. 23 Oklahoma’s third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, the program’s first stretch of three straight postseason berths since 2017-19. The Sooners’ No. 4 seed is their highest since earning the No. 3 seed at the 2014 NCAA West Regional.
“Hearing our name called during the selection show is something we’ll never take for granted,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “Our team is incredibly excited for the opportunity to compete against the best in the country. Earning a No. 4 seed is a testament to the work this group has put in all season. We’re proud of that recognition, but we’re focused on making the most of this opportunity and advancing to the NCAA Championships.”
Oklahoma will look to return to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season and the 11th time in program history.
The regional includes No. 2 Southern Cal, No. 10 Duke, No. 14 UCF, No. 29 Ohio State, No. 32 Northwestern, No,. 38 Kansas, No. 48, Texas Tech, No. 65 UNLV along with Columbia, Qunnipiac and Oakland.
Oklahoma State will be Chapel Hill Regional’s No. 4 seed. The Cowgirls received an at-large bid thanks to their No. 20 national ranking.
The UNC Finley Golf Club will hold the event from May 11-13. Home to the hosting North Carolina Tar Heels, the club features a par-70, 6,177-yard layout.
 Oklahoma State has qualified for each of the last five national championships, most recently placing third at the Gold Canyon Regional in 2025 to punch its ticket.
In 11 tournaments this season, the Cowgirls have earned three tournament victories, five top-3 finishes, eight top-5 finishes and a 104-39-1 (.726) record.
Oklahoma State is one of four top-25 teams and eight top-50 squads set to travel to North Carolina. OSU has already played against six of the 12 schools in the field this season, posting a 6-3 (.667) combined record against them. The Cowgirls notably went 2-0 against both No. 3 seed Mississippi State and No. 6 seed Virginia.
This marks the Cowgirls’ 20th regional appearance since the system was introduced 32 years ago.
