STILLWATER – A solid second round from the Oklahoma State women’s golf team has the Cowgirls in third place with 18 holes to play in the Cowgirl Classic at Karsten Creek.
Despite the blustery conditions that produced 35-mile per hour wind gusts, OSU posted rounds of 303-300 to enter the clubhouse at 27-over 603. Texas Tech leads the field at 15-over, while Baylor is just seven strokes ahead of the Cowgirls at 20-over.
A trio of birdies by Maja Stark and four from Isabella Fierro in the second round helped the Cowgirls solidify their position on the leaderboard. Fierro, who tied for the most birdies through two rounds with eight, will enter the final day of the Cowgirl Classic just five strokes off the lead and in a tie for sixth place.
Hailey Jones, Stark, Rina Tatematsu, and Lianna Bailey end the day on Thursday at 7-over, 8-over, 9-over, and 15-over respectively. Freshman Angelica Pfefferkorn posted four birdies in the morning round and finished the day 13-over 78. Sophomore Jenna Solheim enters the final 18 holes in 51st place.
The final 18 holes of the Cowgirl Classic will begin on Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
