OSU women move up, finish sixth in Sugar Bowl
NEW ORLEANS —Oklahoma State’s women’s golf team posted a 299 during its third round at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on Tuesday to move up two spots and finish in sixth place at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
The Cowgirls’ 11-over day gave them a 54-hole total of 907, which was 15 strokes off the pace of Arizona and Tulane for fourth place. LSU carded a closing 286 to cruise to a 12-shot victory with an 874 tally at the par-72, 6,189-yard layout.
The LSU tandem of Madelene Sagstrom and Caroline Nistrup shared medalist honors after carding matching 71s to finish at 4-under 212.
OSU’s Isabella Deilert used a closing 71 to move up 11 spots into a tie for ninth place at 6-over 222. The sophomore made the turn at even-par 36 after countering her lone bogey of the day at the second with a birdie at the sixth. Deilert reeled off eight pars in a row on her inward nine before closing with a birdie at the 18th for a 1-under 35 side.
Freshmen Maddie McCrary and Kenzie Neisen posted 226 totals after carding 75s during their third rounds to finish tied for 21st place.
Sophomore Linnea Johansson’s 78 tied her for 42nd place at 234.
Freshman Alexis Sadeghy tied for 51st place at 237 after finishing with a 79.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on March 2 when they begin play at the Bruin/Wave Invitational in Tarzana, Calif.
