OSU’s Yang is Big 12 Player of the Year

IRVING, Texas –Oklahoma State’s Julie Yang was named the Big 12 Player of the Year with the announcement of the league’s women’s golf postseason awards today.
Yang is currently ranked 41st nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. The sophomore has competed in nine events this season, posting three top 10s on the year. Yang opened the fall slate with runner-up showings at the Dale McNamara Fall Preview and the Windy City Collegiate en route to earning Big 12 Golfer of the Month honors for September.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Yang also finished seventh at the Bruin Wave Invitational and tied for 15th at the Big 12 Championship in her most recent start.
With the honor, Yang becomes the 10th Cowgirl overall and the third consecutive to earn the award since its inception in 1997. Additionally, an OSU player has won the award six of the past seven seasons.
Yang was joined on the All-Big 12 Team by senior teammate Jayde Panos. A native of Perth, Australia, Panos has competed in nine events this season. She has a pair of top 10s on the year, finishing seventh at the Schooner Fall Classic and tying for third place at the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
