Quail Creek’s Hansen named South Central PGA’s Professional of the Year

Broken Arrow – Mike Hansen of Oklahoma City has been awarded the South Central PGA’s highest honor, the 2020 Golf Professional of the Year.  Hansen, the PGA Director of Golf at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club in Oklahoma City, has been a PGA member for nearly 12 years while serving various clubs within the South Central Section.

Hansen is a passionate representative of the PGA of America and the South Central Section. He has shown dedication to growing the game through  junior golf and service to the section, where he has held positions such as Assistants Association President and Western Chapter President. Hansen was the general manager and head professional at Duncan Golf & Tennis Club for almost 10 years before moving to Quail Creek in 2020.

Hansen was also selected as the Western Chapter PGA Professional Development Award winner for 2020. Known for his willingness to share ideas to help further the success of his fellow golf professionals, Hansen mentored two of his three assistants at Duncan to head professional positions.

In addition to being named 2020 Golf Professional of the Year, Hansen was previously awarded the 2011 Assistant Professional of the Year, along with being named the winner of the 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Youth Player Development Award

The South Central PGA would also like to congratulate all of the 2020 Special Award Recipients. The 2020 Player of the Year was Trent Rommann of Crestview CC in Wichita and Teacher of the Year is Ryan Rody of Southern Hills Country Club. Mark Felder, who in addition to being a PGA professional is the executive director of the Oklahoma Golf Association, is entering the South Central Section Hall of Fame. All the award winners will be recognized at the South Central PGA Special Awards Banquet Feb. 28 at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Tulsa.
