Red River Series brings six new summer junior events to Oklahoma
A new series of six junior events will be held in Oklahoma this summer. The “Red River Series” is a cooperative venture between the Texas Junior Golf Tour and the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour and the Oklahoma Golf Association.

“We’re really excited about it,” said Mark Felder, executive director of the Oklahoma Golf Association. “It will just be more high quality events for our juniors to play in and improve. The TJGT runs great events and these will be top quality, nationally ranked tournaments.”
The TJGT will administer the events, which have a higher entry fee than OJGT events, but also include more giveaways for the golfers. The fields for the two-day events will include boys and girls ages 12-18. Entries will be geo-fenced to allow Oklahoma players first access, following which players from surrounding states will be allowed in including Texas.
Links to enter will be on the OGA site at www.okgolf.org and the Texas Junior Tour site at www.tjgt.com. Events will open for entry on March 21. For any questions please contact tour director Travis Measley at travism@tjgt.com.
The OJGT offers events in the spring and fall but the OGA concentrates in the summer on the 12 events plus USGA qualifiers that it hosts, including the junior championship, state amateur and the Oklahoma Open. The TJGT is a privately-owned tour that hosts 50 events in Texas that are separate from junior events run by the Texas Golf Association and the North and South Texas PGA Sections.
The Red River Series will offer Junior Golf Scoreboard points and help a golfer’s standing for American Junior Golf Association events just as OJGT events do.
“I think it will be great for our boys and girls,” said Morri Rose, who runs the OJGT for the OGA. “Travis (the executive director of the TJGT) does a great job and we always have a great event in the Red River Challenge.
