A new event on the American Junior Golf Association Tour will be held at Oaks Country Club July 24-26, with the Junior-Am Fundraiser on July 23.
Entries are being accepted now for the Gateway Mortgage Group Tulsa Junior-Am, in which teams of three golfers will team with one of the talented young golfers who will be playing in the tournament. Proceeds from the Junior-Am will help support the AJGA’s Ace Grant scholarship fund and the Folds of Honor.
The Gateway Mortgage Group Tulsa Junior is a 54-hole event featuring 78 players dueling July 24-26 at Oaks Country Club.
The Junior-Am will have an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Teams of three are $1,000 and include sleeves of Taylormade golf balls, tournament shirts and hats. Sponsorship levels and details are available, please click here.
All teams and entry forms should be emailed to tournament chairman and organizer Maggie Roller at Maggie.roller@sbcglobal.net.
The AJGA has been a proving ground for many of today’s brightest PGA Tour stars, including Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Sergio Garcia, Lexi Thompson, Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis.
To enter or for more information on the tournament, go to www.ajga.org. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the event should contact Linda Cohlmia at lindacohlmia@me.com. A local qualifier is scheduled July 22 at Page Belcher Golf Course.
The new Gateway Mortgage Group Tulsa Junior will be the first of two AJGA events in Oklahoma in 2018, along with the Ping Invitational Oct. 5-8 at Karsten Creek in Stillwater.
The new event came about through the dedicated work of Roller, the director of instruction at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow and mother of three talented junior golfers. Gateway Mortgage Group, led by CEO and gubernatorial candidate Kevin Stitt, stepped forward to be the title sponsor and help make the event first class for all the contestants.
