Son wins Rolex Girls Junior Champion on AJGA Tour
Yujeong Son of Norman, a three-time Rolex Junior All-American, to win the Rolex Girls Junior Championship Friday at Promontory Club in Park City, Utah.
Son carded rounds of 69-70-72-73 for a tournament total of 4-under-par 284. Son was tied for the lead with Elizabeth Wang of San Marino, California, after round three. This is Son’s third AJGA Invitational win as she is currently No. 7 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. She won the 2017 Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational, 2014 Junior All-Star Invitational and has 21 top-10 AJGA finishes.
The seventeen-year-old joins an elite group of past champions, many of whom have gone on to successful LPGA careers after the Rolex Girls Junior Championship including: Kellee Booth, Leigh Anne Hardin, Aree Song Wongluekiet, Naree Song Wongluekiet, Brittany Lang, Inbee Park, Paula Creamer, Julieta Granada, Morgan Pressel, Esther Choe, Jane Rah, Victoria Tanco, Kimberly Kim, Yueer Cindy Feng and Ariya Jutanugarn.
