Sooners, Cowboys ready for N.I.T. at Omni Tucson National
TUCSON, Ariz. — Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are back in action this weekend in Tucson, Ariz., for the N.I.T. at Omni Tucson National, a 54-hole event played over two days at the par-72, 7,167-yard Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National.
The Sooners enter the N.I.T. on a hot streak after opening their spring with a third-place, first-place and runner-up finish at different spring events. Most recently, head coach Ryan Hybl’s team finish second at the George Hannon Collegiate in Austin, Texas, where four Sooner golfers finished inside the top 20. Oklahoma hasn’t finished outside of the top-five this season.
“It’s great to be out in Arizona and get our feet wet in the desert as we hope to be here in late May for the championship,” Hybl said. “Our guys are feeling good and are ready to get after it this weekend.”
The full field of 18 features eight teams inside Golfstat’s top 35, in addition to half of the PGA Tour U’s top 10, two of which are Sooners.
Oklahoma State is coming off a fourth-place showing earlier this week at the George Hannon Invitational. The Pokes produced a pair of top-10 finishers at the University of Texas Golf Club with sophomores Eugenio Chacarra and Aman Gupta tying for sixth place.
Chacarra and Gupta will both be in the starting five for the Pokes once again this weekend. They will be joined by junior Austin Eckroat and freshmen Bo Jin and Jonas Baumgartner.
A pair of Cowboys, Brian Stark and Rayhan Thomas, will compete individually.
Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
