Sooners finish eighth, TU 14th at The Woodlands

The No. 22 Oklahoma women’s golf team finished Tuesday’s third and final round of The Dickson taking eighth place while the University of Tulsa placed 14th. The 16-team event was held at the par-72, 6,296- yard The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.

The Sooners carded a 13-over 301 on the day for a three-round 882 (+18). No. 2 Florida State finished at the top of the leaderboard, shooting 21-under 843, and No. 15 Kent State placed second at 867. TCU took third place with an 868.

Julienne Soo came out with a share of ninth place out of 90 competitors with a 1-under 215 after a final round of 3-under 69. Valerie Tanguay finished the tournament with a share of 24th place at 220. Rylee Pedigo was 40th at 224, Ana Ruiz tied for 51st at 226 and Hannah Wood shared 54th at 227.

“We had a tough day as a team,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “Julienne played really well this week. She stayed composed throughout the day and ended up placing in the top-10. We have a couple weeks to work on things we struggled with this tournament as well as continuing to work on areas we are very good.”

The Sooners return to the course on March 10-12 in Tucson, Ariz., for the Mountain View Collegiate tournament at the Mountain View Golf Club.

Tulsa freshman Greta Bruner had her best finish in seven tournaments this year with a fourth-place performance at The Dickson, as she turned in a 5-under 211.

The Golden Hurricane finished at  901 after Tuesday’s final round 306.

Bruner shot consistent rounds of 70-71-70 in one of the top individual performances by a Hurricane golfer in recent years.

Sophomore Anneke Strohbach finished in 54th place with a score of 227 after a final round 76.  Senior Nadia Majidizadeh had a final round 77 for a 54-hole total of 231 for 65th place. Fellow senior Nicole Marquardt finished in 69th place with a 233, while freshman Taylor Dobson placed 77th with a final score of 237.

Tulsa will be in action next at the BYU Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah, March 13-14.
