Sooners finish sixth in Southern Highlands, Dalke earns top-five finish
The No. 8 Oklahoma men’s golf team tied for sixth place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Wednesday. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at the par-72, 7,374-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The Sooners shot 290 (+2) during Wednesday’s final round to finish with a three-day total of 867 (+4).
No. 5 Florida won the team title with a three-day total of 859. No. 10 Texas Tech and No. 19 USC tied for second place at 863, while host UNLV was fourth at 864. TCU rounded out the top five with a three-day 865.
Junior Brad Dalke was Oklahoma’s best finisher at the event, posting a 54-hole total of 4-under 212 to take fifth place. Dalke carded a 72 in Wednesday’s final round to match his best finish of the season. Dalke has earned six top-20 finishes in seven team events this season.
Senior Grant Hirschman posted an even-par 72 in third round to claim a tie for 28th place with a three-day score of 219.
Redshirt sophomore Quade Cummins also tied for 28th at 219, carding a 70 on Wednesday. Cummins finished his round with three birdies on the front nine and closed out his round bogey-free over the final nine holes.
Redshirt sophomore Thomas Johnson finished with a share of 38th place at 221, posting a 76 during the final 18 holes. Sophomore Garett Reband tallied a 77 on Wednesday, rounding out OU’s lineup with at 226 to tie for 62nd.
Oklahoma returns to action on March 19-20 (Monday-Tuesday) at the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
