Sooners to compete in Seminole Intercollegiate this weekend
NORMAN — The top-ranked Oklahoma men’s golf team has added the Seminole Intercollegiate to its 2021 spring schedule, head coach Ryan Hybl announced on Tuesday. The event is slated for Feb. 19-21 in Tallahassee, Fla., and will crown a champion after 54 holes.
The change comes after the All-American Intercollegiate, the Sooners’ original opening tournament, was canceled due to severe winter weather across the region.
“We’re excited to open our spring at a great event in Tallahassee this weekend,” Hybl said. “I’m thankful for our administration, which helped us make it possible to play this weekend and we all look forward to seeing our team compete.”
The tournament, hosted by No. 15 Florida State, starts Friday morning at the Golden Eagle Country Club.
The Sooners ascended to No. 1 in the latest Golfweek poll last week after entering the spring ranked second. Oklahoma’s roster boasts a nation-leading six players inside the top 30, including the All-America trio of Jonathan Brightwell, Quade Cummins and Garett Reband.
