Southwestern Christian University men, women sweep Central Plains Invite titles
Jon David Pitts finished second and Philipp Pakosch took fourth to lead Southwestern Christian University to a four-shot victory in the Central Plains Invitational at Salina (Kan.) Country Club.
Pitts shot rounds of 67-68-67 on the par-70 layout to finish at 8-under 202. He lost in a playoff for first to Jackson Malone of Kansas Wesleyan. Pakosch shot 68-66-73 to finish at 3-under. Southwestern finished at 836 while Kansas Wesleyan was second at 840.
Gus Fritz tied for 13th at 4-over and Saxon Ross tied for 18th at 6-over.
The same two teams finished 1-2 by the same margin in the women’s division as well. Southwestern Christian, led by the individual winner Cristina Galban, finished four shots ahead of Kansas Wesleyan.
Galban shot rounds of 74-71 to finish at 1-over 145 as the course played to a par 72 for the women. Carley Haught tied for fourth at 159 after rounds of 79-80.
