The Bruzzy at Dornick Hills Final results:

ARDMORE, Okla. – Tulsa’s Lilly Thomas scored a 2-under par 68 in final round action at the Bruzzy on Sunday to take medalist honors with a 2-under par 208 54-hole total score at the Dornick Hills Country Club course.

As a team, the Hurricane made up six strokes on first-place North Texas but couldn’t overtake the host team, falling by two strokes and finishing in second place. North Texas completed the tournament with a 16-over par 856 score, while Tulsa turned in a final round 287 and finished at 18-over 858 for the three rounds. The University of Oklahoma finished 14th in the field.

Thomas’ first-place performance was her first individual career victory and her ninth career top-10 finish. It was also Thomas’ sixth finish this year among the top-12.

Thomas began the day with three birdies on her first six holes and finished the front nine at 2-under par. She added birdie putts on holes 13 and 15 to go 4-under par, but went bogey-bogey on the final two holes before finishing the final 18 holes with a 2-under 68 score.

Lovisa Gunnar moved up from 13th to a fourth-place tie on the final day with an even-par 70 to finish the tournament at 4-over par 214. Gunnar turned in two birdies and two bogeys on the day.

Grace Kilcrease had her sixth top-10 performance in her rookie season with her 10th place finish for a 216 total score after a round of 75 today. Fellow freshman Jenni Roller finished in 22nd place with a final score of 221, while Sydney Seigel placed 40th overall place with a total score of 224.

Tulsa will be back in action at the American Athletic Conference Championships, April 17-19, in Brooksville, Fla.

Of note, scoring on the par-5 16th hole, the famous “Clliff Hole” got away from tournament organizers. Playing downwind, even third-shot approaches with wedges were not holding the green and often bouncing out of bounds at the back of the hole, forcing golfers to try to layup left of the green in the rough and chip on. The par-5 ranked the most difficult hole on the course with an average of 5.91, nearly a full shot over par. There were 13 birdies, 78 bogeys, 33 double bogeys and 26 scores worse than double bogey, including some in double figures.

Oklahoma  concluded The Bruzzy in 14th (63-over, 903) on Sunday afternoon at Dornick Hills Country Club.

Emily Hun, Oklahoma’s lone individual in the field, tied for 20th. Hun finished 9-over 219 and opened the tournament with a 1-under 69. The Macau, China product recorded an 8-over 78 in her final round, tallying a birdie on the fifth hole. Hun tallied 11 birdies through the two-day tournament.

Mikhaela Fortuna led the OU lineup and tied for 40th (14-over, 224). Fortuna tallied a 7-over 77 to wrap up the tournament. Kaylee Vesely tied for 46th (15-over, 225) and recorded a 6-over 76 in her final 18 holes. Vesely tallied consecutive birdies to open the front nine.

Reagan Chaney, who made her OU debut after transfering from Oklahoma City University, tied for 64th (20-over, 230). Chaney concluded the event with a 7-over 77.

Savannah Barber fired a team-best 3-over 73 on Sunday. Barber tallied four birdies on the back nine and finished 3-under 33. The Fort Worth, Texas product tied for 67th (21-over, 231).

Raychel Nelke rounded out the Oklahoma contingent in the field and tied for 71st (24-over, 234).
