TULSA – Michael Hughett, Mike Gotcher and Todd Raffensperger each shot 1-over 71 to share the lead after the first round of the Oklahoma Golf Association Senior Stroke Play Championship Monday at Meadowbrook Country Club.

The trio holds a one-shot advantage over Jason Gulley and Joel Driver who each shot 73. Don Clark, Scott Challis and Eric Gudgel are two back at 74.

Hughett, the defending champion, is seeking his record 25th OGA title and has won this event three of the past four years, a streak broken by Raffensperger’s victory in 2020. Gotcher was 4-under and blazing on his front nine but struggled coming in. Hughet was also 2-under on the front and 3-over on his back nine.

Also being held concurrently with the championship are the OGA Super Senior Championship and the OGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship.

Arthur Bennett and Bruce Maddux  each shot 2-over rounds of 73 to share the lead in the Super Seniors for those over ages 60 and over.

In the Women’s Stroke Play Championship, Kate Strickland  of Edmond shot a 1-under 71 to lead Natalie Gough of Bixby by a shot as Gough came in at even-par 72. Reagan Chaney of Ardmore is in third at 76 and her Oklahoma City University teammate Morgan Palermo shot 77.
