Tulsa in tie for second entering final round in Utah

Springville, Utah – The Tulsa women’s golf team sits in 2nd place following the opening two rounds Monday at the par-71 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, as the Golden Hurricane carded rounds of 295 and 292 for a 36-hole score of 587 on the Hobble Creek Golf Course.

Four Tulsa golfers are among the top-15 individuals, led by senior Olivia Jackson with a one-over par 143 for fifth place. Jackson paced the Tulsa attack with rounds of three-over par 74 and a second round total of two-under par 69.

Fellow senior Johanna Samuelsson is in 10th place after rounds of 74-73 for a 147 total, while freshmen Lorena Tseng and Shaelee Scarberry are in 12th and 14th place, respectively. Tseng had the best opening round for the Hurricane with a score of 72, and followed that up with a round of 76. Scarberry turned in rounds of 75-74 for a 149 total. Taylor Dobson finished day one with a score of 152 for 31st place.

Senior Nikkie Marquardt, playing as an individual, had a complete turnaround with a second round score of 72 after an opening 18-hole score of 82.

The Hurricane is two strokes behind Northern Arizona (585) and is tied with host Utah Valley (587), while Sam Houston State (589) and Southern Utah (594) round out the top-5 teams.

The third and final round will take place on Tuesday.
