Tulsa seventh after first round of AAC tourney
ALM COAST, Fla. –– The Tulsa women’s golf team carded a 13-over par 301 in first round action at the American Athletic Conference Championship Sunday on the par-72 Conservatory Course at the Hammock Beach Resort.
Houston leads the field with a 1-under par 287 score, but only 11 strokes separate teams number 2 through 10 after the opening round.
A trio of Tulsa golfers turned in the team’s best individual round of 75 on Sunday and are tied for 19th place, including senior Johanna Samuelsson, sophomore Taylor Dobson and freshman Sammy Liu.
Tulsa freshman Jasmine Zhang is one stroke back with a score of 76 and tied for 28th place, while fellow freshman Lorena Tseng is one shot behind Zhang with a round of 77 for 35thplace. In 28 rounds as a freshman, Tseng’s score today is just her third round of 77 or more this season.
Houston’s Leonie Harm leads the individual race with a 3-under par score of 69.
Second round action takes place on Monday with the final 18 holes to be played on Tuesday.
