Tulsa women claim third in Sunflower Invitational
MANHATTAN, Kan. –– The Tulsa women’s golf team finished in third place at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational Monday. The Golden Hurricane carded its best round of the tournament with a 292 for a 54-hole score of 887, just six strokes back of host and team champion Kansas State.
Individually, Tulsa had three golfers place among the top-15 at the par-72 Colbert Hills Country Club course. Sophomore Lorena Tseng turned in her second top-10 performance in just two events for the Hurricane, as she finished in 9th place with a 1-under par 71 on Monday for a 4-over par total of 220. The finish was also Tseng’s 9th career top-10 performance in 13 collegiate events.
Junior Taylor Dobson and freshman Alex Christenson placed in a 13th-place tie as Christeson tied Tseng for the best round of the day for the Hurricane with a 71, while Dobson carded a 74. They both finished with scores of 8-over par 224.
Junior Haley Greb finished in 24th place with a 228 score, while freshman Lilly Thomas turned in a 46th place finish with a total of 236.
Sophomore Jasmine Zhang, playing as an individual, finished in 21st place after turning in a 3-round score of 227.
Tulsa will be back in action at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational, Sept. 27-29, in Greenville, South Carolina.
