Wyandotte Tribe enters contract to purchase Peoria Ridge Golf Course
The Peoria Tribe has reached a contract agreement with the Wyandotte Tribe to sell Peoria Ridge Golf Course in Miami, which had been slated to close this summer.
The sales is not final until a 20-day investigative period is over in August.
Milton Hale, who has been the superintendent at Peoria Ridge since it was built in 1998 and lately has been operating the entire operation, said it is his understanding the Wyandotte’s plan to keep the course open. Calls to Wyandotte Chief Billy Friend were not immediately returned.
If the contract is finalized, it would resolve a saga that has been ongoing for more than a year, with one previous agreement to purchase the course falling apart at this stage.
The Wyandotte Tribe has a nearby casino and hotel about six miles from Peoria Ridge.
Peoria Ridge is a Bland Pittman design (architect of Bailey Ranch in Owasso and Battle Creek in Broken Arrow). It opened in 2000 and Hale said currently the course is in excellent condition. The Peoria Tribe had announced it would close on May 31 but that was pushed back as negotiations with the Wyandottes progressed.
The real estate firm of Ary Real Estate put up a Facebook post showing the course with the headline Under Contract and the text:

Reached by phone, realtor Jacob Barnes with Ary Real Estate said his company had been maintained by both sides to consummate the transaction but he couldn’t add anything specific about the Wyandotte’s plans for the course until after the 20-day window and the sale is hopefully finalized.
