Youth on Course partners with Oklahoma City municipals, increasing opportunities for young golfers

Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation and Youth on Course have partnered to increase affordable golf access for young players at the City’s five municipal golf courses.

Through this partnership, Youth on Course members can play for free at Oklahoma City municipal courses anytime Monday through Thursday and after noon on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Memberships are $40 per year for people 18 and under and can be purchased at youthoncourse.org/join, with discounted memberships available for those in need. Golf cart rentals are not included.

Golf rounds can be scheduled online at okcgolf.com or by calling individual courses:

“This is an exciting opportunity for kids in our community,” OKC Parks Director Melinda McMillan-Miller said. “Golf is more popular than ever in Oklahoma City, and Youth on Course is helping our youngest players be part of that movement. By making our public golf courses even more accessible, Youth on Course is giving students the chance to fall in love with golf regardless of income.”

This collaboration highlights the role of municipal golf courses in providing equitable access to the game.

With the addition of the Oklahoma City municipal courses, Youth on Course members now have access to 16 courses in Oklahoma, furthering efforts to make the game more accessible and inclusive.

Youth on Course is a nonprofit dedicated to providing young people with life-changing opportunities through golf by offering rounds for $5 or less at more than 2,100 courses across the United States, Canada and Australia. In Oklahoma, Youth on Course membership has more than doubled year-over-year, highlighting the growing demand for affordable access to the game. Rounds played have increased by 33%, and with the addition of more municipal courses, that number is expected to climb even higher.

“We are proud to partner with Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation,” Youth on Course CEO Adam Heieck said. “Adding five more municipal courses allows youth greater access to golf and removes the barrier of cost – empowering young athletes to enjoy the sport, develop their skills and create memories without limitations. This partnership is just the beginning of our efforts to make golf accessible to everyone.”
