Alec Heinen is first alternate in Wichita U.S. Open qualifier

Alec Heinen of Edmond earned the first alternate position with a 1-over round of 72 Wednesday in a U.S. Open local qualifier at Wichita Country Club.

The two qualifying positions went to Kansans Josh Weems and Landon Fox, the only two golfers in the field to shoot even-par 71. No golfers were under par.

Logan McAllister of Oklahoma City, Nick Heinen (Alec’s younger brother) of Edmond and Austin Eckroat of Edmond each shot 3-over 74. Among those at 4-over 75 were Tyson Reeder of Edmond and Jeremy Dear of Broken Arrow. Complete scores are here.
