Cowan, Schartz win OJGT’s Spring Fling at Lincoln Park

Ryder Cowan of Edmond put on a show and Emerie Schartz of Wichita won her third consecutive event in the Lincoln Park Spring Fling on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Sunday.

Cowan, a University of Oklahoma commit, fired rounds of 65-68 for a 7-under 133 to win the event by three shots over Matthew Smith of Oklahoma City (67-69). Ty Adkins of Hutchinson, Kan., was third at 140 (67-73), followed by Preston Albee of Choctaw at 143 (69-740 and fellow OU commit Jake Hopper of Norman (71-730) at 144.

Schartz shot rounds of 73-74 to finish at 7-over 147, five shots clear of Jaiden Gregston of Duncan (73-79) at 152. Brookly Benn of Edmond was another shot back at 153 (77-76), followed by Avery Schartz of Wichita at 154 (82-72) and McKenna Tatum of Edmond at 155 (78-77).

Schartz has won three OJGT events in a row this spring. OJGT Director Morri Rose said he believes it is the first time a player has won three consecutive events in the history of the tour.
