Cowboys finish third at the Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.–Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team posted a 288 during its final round at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational to finish in third place at Sawgrass Country Club.

OSU’s even-par score during its third round gave the Cowboys a 19-over total of 883, which was five shots off the pace of runner-up North Florida. Texas took the team title, closing with a 291 to finish at 872, 8-over, at the par-72, 6,976-yard layout.
Beau Hossler made it a clean sweep for the Longhorns, signing for a 70 to finish at 4-under 212 and five shots clear of the field.

A pair of Cowboys finished in the top 10 with Zachary Olsen leading the way. The sophomore closed with the squad’s low round of the day, a 2-under 70, to move up nine spots into a tie for fourth place at 219.

Olsen was joined in the top 10 by junior Jordan Niebrugge, who posted his second consecutive 73 to tie for seventh place at 220.

Sophomore Wyndham Clark carded his low round of the event with a 73 to tie for 15th place at 222.

Freshman Kristoffer Ventura’s 72 tied him for 23rd place at 224, while senior Tanner Kesterson finished with an 89 to stand at 241 and tied for 75th place.

Competing individually, redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley used a 74 during his finished with a 74 to earn a top-15 finish with his 222 total.

Freshman Sam Stevens also competed individually, tying for 77th place at 242 after closing with an 83.

The Cowboys will be back in action on March 9 when they begin play at the Southern HighlandsCollegiate Masters in Las Vegas.
