Creel continues birdie barrage at The Club at Indian Springs
After opening with 10 birdies against one bogey on his way to a 63, Josh Creel of Edmond reeled off birdies on the first five holes en route to an eight-birdie, no-bogey round of 64 in the second round of the New Hope Oklahoma Championship on the APT Tour at The Club at Indian Springs.
Creel is now at 17-under through 36 holes and has a four-shot lead over Derek Oland (66-65) and a six-shot margin over four golfers tied for third, including Sallisaw native Trent Whitekiller (68-65).
Other players with Oklahoma ties to make the cut include former University of Tulsa golfer Matt Mabrey, tied for 16th at 7-under (67-70), Dillon Rust of Edmond, tied for 16th (70-67), Chris Tidland of Stillwater, tied for 27th at 6-under (72-66), former TU golfer Chris Worrell, tied for 45th at 4-under (68-72), along with Cameron Meyers of Edmond, who improved eight shots (74-66).
The tournament continues through Saturday. Spectators are welcome.
