Fritz edges Hughes, Sands in playoff to win OJGT Spring Championship

Gus Fritz of Shawnee won a playoff with Rhett Hughes of Edmond and Parker Sands of Edmond to capture the OJGT Spring Championship Sunday at Shawnee Country Club.

The three players finished 36 holes tied at 142. Fritz shot rounds of 69-73, while Hughes shot 71-71 and Sands 72-70.

Ben Lathrop of Oklahoma City and Mesa Falleur of Muskogee tied for fourth at even-par 144.

Grace Kilcrease of Springdale, Ark., shot rounds of 71-72 to run away with the girls championship at 143, nine shots ahead of Emerie Schartz of Derby, Kan., who shot 77-75 for a 152 total. Brooklyn Benn of Edmond was third at 156 (73-83), while Beans Factor of Ada (74-83) and Kinslea Jones of Wichita (79-78) tied for fourth at 157.
